Nbn™ Technology Type

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

Optic fibre leading directly to your building and connects to the nbn™ box inside your office. FTTP is compatible with all Connexus nbn™ data and speed plans. The speed you receive can still be affected by other factors (see below).

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)

Optic Fibre leading to a node on the street and connects to your office via coaxial cable. HFC is compatible with all Connexus nbn™ data and speed plans. The speed you receive can still be affected by other factors (see below).

Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

Optic Fibre leading to a nearby node and connects to your office via existing copper phone lines. Factors affecting your speed includes the weather, electrical interference, quality of your office cabling and the length and quality of the copper phone line.

Your maximum attainable line speed can be confirmed once your nbn™ service is active. It may be a good idea to start with a lower speed plan and then upgrade once this has been confirmed. If your maximum attainable speed cannot support the speed tier you’re on, Connexus may help you choose a speed tier that you can achieve.

Fibre to the Building (FTTB)

Optic Fibre leading to a node in the communications room of your building and connects to your office via the building’s existing copper phone lines. Various factors can affect your speed, including electrical interference, quality of your office cabling and the length and quality of the copper phone line.

Fixed Wireless

An nbn™ tower in your area will deliver wireless data signals to an antenna on your building and is transmitted to an nbn™ connection box in your office. Factors that can affect your Fixed Wireless nbn™ includes weather conditions and the signal quality between the local nbn™ tower and to the antenna. You can choose between the Basic speed plan or Standard speed plan for Fixed Wireless services.

Other factors that affect your speed

Internet usage

The number of people in your office and their internet usage can affect your speed. See the speed table above to choose a plan suitable for your business needs.

Wireless

Wireless connection in your office can be affected by the distance of your modem/router. If you are further away from your device, electrical interference is more likely to occur.

In-premise equipment

If your in-premise equipment is updated or does not have the capacity to reach certain speeds, your internet performance may be affected. Connexus offers powerful modems to maximise your nbn™ experience.

Line quality

With FTTN/FTTB, your speed may be affected by the quality of your phone line. If that is the case, you might want a certified technician to fix the internal wiring of your office.

Congestion

Congestion can occur if you are visiting a website with a lot of traffic or if you are downloading from an international source.
